Lab Workbench for Chemical Testing Areas
The LANDRO lab workbench uses polypropylene panels for laboratories that need corrosion-resistant work surfaces and storage. It can be configured for chemical preparation, acid-handling support, water-quality testing and other controlled processes where standard painted steel furniture may not be the preferred material.
Polypropylene is resistant to many acids, alkalis and aqueous chemicals, but compatibility is not universal. The exact reagent, concentration, temperature, exposure time and cleaning method must be reviewed before the material is specified. Project approval should be based on a chemical compatibility assessment rather than a general “chemical-proof” claim.
Polypropylene Construction and Configurable Storage
Panels can be thermally welded to form the cabinet body and work surface. Available layouts may include door cabinets, drawers, open knee spaces, raised worktop edges and integrated PP sinks. Panel thickness, reinforcement, hardware and designed equipment load are confirmed in the approved drawing and bill of materials.
A chemical lab table should be planned around the actual procedure. Sink position, drainage, service fixtures, ventilation interfaces and equipment footprints must be coordinated before production. Where sensitive analytical work is involved, the facility team should also confirm whether any hardware, services or accessories introduce metal components.
Select the Bench from the Chemical Risk Assessment
Before ordering, prepare a list of chemicals and identify normal use, spill scenarios and cleaning agents. Compare these conditions with polypropylene compatibility data and confirm whether localized secondary containment is required. Heat-producing equipment and processes above the recommended material temperature need separate review.
LANDRO can configure the lab workbench with project-specific dimensions, cabinets, sinks and service openings. Facility teams can review the OSHA laboratory safety guidance alongside their chemical hygiene plan and local requirements.
Polypropylene Lab Workbench FAQs
Is polypropylene resistant to every chemical?
No. Compatibility depends on the chemical, concentration, temperature and exposure time. The reagent list must be reviewed before specification.
Can the workbench include a PP sink?
Yes. Integrated or coordinated PP sinks, drainage openings and raised edges can be included according to the approved layout.
Can it support heavy equipment?
The panel thickness, reinforcement and designed load must be confirmed for the equipment footprint. Heavy or vibration-sensitive equipment may require additional structural support.
| Component | Technical Standards & Material Specification |
|---|---|
| Material Base | 8mm to 12mm thick porcelain-white PP boards featuring excellent chemical stability, impact resistance, and inherent tensile strength. |
| Welding & Joining | Thermoplastic welding rods selected to match the panel grade, with joint details confirmed for the approved configuration. |
| Handle & Hardware | Molded PP handles and compatible hinges can be specified. Hardware and any exposed metal components are confirmed in the approved bill of materials. |
| Liquid Control | Worktop features a continuous raised PP marine edge lip for containment, complete with a fully integrated seamless PP sink and drainage setup. |
| Cabinet Architecture | Reinforced internal vertical ribs to prevent bowing or sagging under heavy equipment load; removable backboards for ventilation duct routing. |
📦 Packaging Method
Laboratory furniture components are protected with edge guards, cushioning and export packaging selected according to the order size, destination and shipping method.
⏱️ Lead Time & Logistics
Production and delivery schedules are confirmed after drawings, quantities, finishes and shipping terms are approved. FCL and LCL options can be arranged according to the project and destination.
